Les Arcs consists of five seperate resort bases; the tradtional resort of Bourg St Maurice, Les Arcs 1600, Les Arcs 1800, Les Arcs 1950 and Les Arcs 2000. The numbers in the resort name represent their height in meteres. The quickest way between each resort is on skis and via the network of lifts as journeys by road can take up to 45 minutes. There are other resorts nearby that you can ski too although they are not officially part of Les Arcs, these include Vallandry and Plan Peisey.

Skiing at Les Arcs has always been impressive. There is also an impressive double decker cable car, called the Vanoise Express, that links Les Arcs to the La Plagne ski area. Together these two ski ares form "Paradiski", one of the world's best and largest ski areas, with 265 miles of piste to explore.

Activities & facilities at Les Arcs

A small selection of shops can be found at each Les Arcs resort, as well as ice rinks at Les Arcs 1800 and 2000, cinemas at Les Arcs 1600, 1800 and 2000 and bowling at Les Arcs 1800. Outdoor activites include dog sledding, ski biking and snowshoeing. For the more adventurous helicopter tours and paragliding are available as well as the Olympic bobsleigh run at La Plagne where you can ride in a bobsleigh as a passenger.

There are many restaurants to choose from spread across the resorts of Les Arcs. From pizzarias and creperies to fondues and raclette all tastes are well catered for. Les Arc 1600 is the quietest of the resorts. Les Arcs 1800, 1950 and 2000 are the places to be for evening entertainment. Les Arc 1950 boasts an entertainment venue, called Luigi's, which hosts live performances and big screen events.
