A Douro River Cruise On The ‘Royal Barge’ – With A Few Days In Historic Portuguese Pousada

Day 1 – London – Porto
Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service® transports you from your front door to the airport for your flight to Porto. On arrival, our coach will transfer you to the Spirit of Chartwell. Enjoy a welcome Titan cocktail party and dinner on board. Overnight in Porto.

Day 2 – Porto – Régua – Pinhão
After breakfast, we meander our way through the beautiful Douro River Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site to Régua and onward to Pinhão. In Régua, we take an included excursion to Mateus Palace and Gardens. We rejoin the ship in Pinhão. Special dinner at Quinta da Avessada with wine included.

Day 3 – Pinhão – Régua – Lamego
Included tour to Lamego one of the most attractive cities in Portugal and visit the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remedios. Admire great views over the town or walk down to the city using an ornate staircase (700 steps) decorated with blue tiles. After lunch, we sail to Entre-os-Rios where we overnight. This evening, we dine alfresco with a Portuguese barbecue dinner with live music.

Day 4 – Régua – Porto
We sail to Porto, disembark and our coach will transfer you to the Pousada de Amares. The rest of the day is at leisure to absorb the delightful ambience of your historic hotel. Enjoy a wonderful dinner tonight in the Pousada’s aptly-named Convent’s Kitchen.

Day 5 – Braga
This morning take an included excursion to Braga. Continue to Bom Jesus do Monte, the magnificent late 18th century Neo-Classical church, stop at a monumental Baroque staircase, containing at each level, Stations of the Cross, in caverns with larger-than-life figures.

Day 6 – Peneda Gerês National Park (optional)
Today take an optional full day excursion to Portugal’s only National Park (Peneda Gerês), a green terraced paradise with a backdrop of austere granite mountains and haven to many endangered species of flora and fauna. The park also contains sites of many ancient settlements from prehistoric and Celtic civilisations. Dinner included at the hotel.

Day 7 – Guimaraes (optional)
Today take an optional half day excursion to the ancient city of Guimaraes, with its imposing castle and central area now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dinner included at the hotel.

Day 8 – Porto – London
Transfer to Porto airport for your flight to London where our staff will greet you and transfer you to your Titan transport for your journey home to your own front door.
