Day 1 : Fly to Bangkok
Fly overnight to Bangkok.
Day 2 : Arrive & Explore
On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Days 3-4 : Bangkok & Grand Palace
The next two days are free to explore Bangkok. A visit to the lustrous Grand Palace is included and you may also wish to take a tuk-tuk to the famous floating markets, discover deliciously spicy street food, or explore Chinatown. (B)
Day 5 : Luxury Train to River Kwai
Depart from Bangkok in the early evening and settle into your private cabin. Sip a drink in the observation area as the train heads out into the open country. Savour dinner in the restaurant car before retiring to your cabin which will be transformed into a comfortable bedroom by your personal steward. (B,L,D)
Day 6 : Bridge Over the River Kwai
Awaken to the train making its way along the Tham Kasae viaduct from Wang Po to the River Kwai Bridge station. Take a river cruise on a local barge before visiting the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre to learn the history of this infamous railway. In the afternoon rejoin the train for lunch and enjoy a relaxing afternoon and night on board as you travel south through unforgettable scenery. (B,L,D)
Day 7 : Explore Penang Island
Brunch is served on board before arriving in Butterworth, Malaysia. Cross to Penang Island for a tour of colonial George Town, then return to the train for dinner. (B,L,D)
Day 8 : Arrive in Singapore
Arrive in Singapore late morning. The time is yours to explore this sleek, dynamic city. (B)
Day 9 : Depart Singapore
Fly to the UK, arriving home the same or following day. (B)
