Chinese New Year Special (Beijing to Shanghai)
Days 1-2 : UK – Beijing
Fly to Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China.
Day 3 : Great Wall of China
Walk on the Great Wall to appreciate 2,000 years of history and admire the panoramic views. We also tour the exquisite Summer Palace. Our evening meal includes the local delicacy, Peking Duck.
Day 4 : Forbidden City
Sightseeing today includes a stroll through Tiananmen Square, past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum to the treasure-filled Forbidden City, which is the largest and best preserved collection of ancient buildings in China from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Fly to the former ancient capital of Xi’an.
Day 5 : Xian
Visit one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century, the Terracotta Warriors and Horses. Later, fly to the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai.
Day 6 : New Year’s Eve
Spend the day exploring Shanghai and experiencing the festive Chinese New Year spirit. Chinese New Year is all about families coming together to bring luck and good fortune for the coming year. Celebrate with the locals and enjoy an authentic side of this festival rarely seen by tourists. In the evening join Wendy Wu on board our exclusive Dragon Boat cruise greeted by a welcoming committee of costumed dancers and drummers. Cruise the Huangpu River with night-time vistas of the historic Bund and futuristic Pudong.
Day 7 : Shanghai
Visit the beautiful Yu Gardens and the Old Town as well as a visit to see the superb antiquities and fine arts of the Shanghai Museum. We also walk along the famous Bund with its colonial architecture.
Day 8 : Fly Shanghai to UK
Fly to the UK, arriving home later the same day.
