Days 1-2 : Fly to Shanghai

Fly to the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, also known as the Paris of the East.

Day 3 : Discover Shanghai

Sightseeing today includes a stroll through the beautiful Yu Gardens and the Old Town. We also walk along the famous Bund with its colonial architecture and in the evening sample traditional Shanghai cuisine.

Day 4 : Fly to Beijing

See the superb antiques and fine arts of the Shanghai Museum and wander around neighbouring People’s Square. Fly to Beijing. This evening sample the delicious local delicacy, Peking Duck.

Day 5 : Forbidden City

Sightseeing today includes a stroll through Tiananmen Square, past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum to the treasure-filled Forbidden City, which has the largest and best preserved collection of ancient buildings in China. We also visit the unique Temple of Heaven.

Day 6 : Great Wall of China

Walk on the Great Wall to appreciate 2,000 years of historical significance whilst admiring the panoramic views. The Great Wall is China’s most iconic attraction, which stretches over 4,000 miles from the Shanhaiguan Pass on the east coast to the Gobi Desert in the west. Also tour the exquisite Summer Palace and see a fascinating Chinese Acrobat show in the evening.

Day 7 : Fly to Xian

Fly to Xian, the former ancient capital and visit the Shaanxi Museum which is home to thousands of priceless relics. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Shui Jiao dumpling meal followed by a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing.

Day 8 : Terracotta Warriors

Visit one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century – the Terracotta Warriors. The figures were created over 2,000 years ago to accompany Emperor Qin Shihuang into the afterlife. We also walk along the Ancient City Walls and stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter to explore the Islamic food markets.

Day 9 : Fly to Wuhan

Fly to Wuhan this morning. Upon arrival you will be transferred by coach to Yichang to board your cruise for the next four nights.

Days 10-12 : Yangtze River Cruise

Tour the Three Gorges Dam before cruising upstream through some of the most dramatic scenery in the world. Over the next three days, take a side-trip to the striking Goddess Stream or visit the Lesser Three Gorges and enjoy various shore excursions along the way.

Day 13 : Panda House, Chongqing Zoo

Disembark from the cruise vessel and visit the Panda House at Chongqing Zoo. Fly to the beautiful city of Guilin and visit the Reed Flute Caves.

Days 14-15 : Guilin & Li River

Cruise the stunning Li River to Yangshuo and enjoy the landscape of limestone hills, fishing scenes and picturesque villages. The following morning discover the beautiful rural countryside around Yangshuo. The afternoon is at leisure and there are many activities available (arranged locally at extra cost) including cycling, rafting and walking or you may choose to relax in the town. In the evening see the cormorant fishermen.

Day 16 : Fly to Hong Kong

Fly to Hong Kong and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure (breakfast only included).

Day 17 : Victoria Peak

Take a tour of Hong Kong Island today, including Victoria Peak and Stanley Market. Later you will visit the Aberdeen Fishing Village (breakfast only included).

Day 18 : Giant Buddha and Lantau Island

Take a ferry ride through Victoria Harbour to Lantau Island. Visit Cheung Sha Beach, Tai O Fishing Village and the Giant Buddha before taking the Skyrail cable car down the mountain. Enjoy dinner at the top of Victoria Peak (breakfast and dinner included).

Days 19-20 : Fly to UK

Enjoy a tour of the New Territories, including a visit to the Yuen Yuen Institute. Take in the view from Tai Mo Shan Mountain and Luk Keng Road Lookout and visit Sam Mun Tsai Fishing Zone. The afternoon is free before transferring to Hong Kong airport for the overnight flight to the UK (breakfast only included).
