The South Luangwa National Park is certainly Zambias premier wildlife destination and is widely regarded as one of Africas last great untamed wildernesses. It is home to large herds of elephant and buffalo as well as a great variety of predator and prey species, this park has one of the densest populations of leopards found anywhere on the continent.
OPTION 1
DAY 1 DAILY HEATHROW-LUSAKA
Overnight flight to Lusaka from Heathrow via Johannesburg (plane change).
DAY 2 SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK
Met on arrival and assisted to your connecting flight to Mfuwe in South Luangwa (approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes). On arrival transfer to the camp. This afternoon you will venture out on your first safari drive, returning after dark with a spotlight in search of nocturnal species that will not be seen by day. Overnight: Flatdogs Luxury Camp. DAYS 3-5 SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives. Overnight: Flatdogs Luxury Camp. (b,l,d)
DAY 6 SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK
Travel up the western bank of the Luangwa River (approximately 3 hours) to Lion Camp in the northern sector away from any other camps. Your game viewing will be either on foot or from open safari vehicles. Night drives from this camp are often very rewarding. Overnight: Lion Camp. (b,l,d)
DAYS 7-8 SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy game viewing either by foot or open safari vehicles in South Luangwa around the open dambos interspersed with attractive ox-bow lagoons. Overnight: Lion Camp. (b,l,d)
DAY 9 LIVINGSTONE
Today you will drive through the park towards Mfuwe for the light aircraft flight to Lusaka (approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes) and connect to your light aircraft flight to Livingstone (approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes). On arrival in Livingstone transfer to Chundukwa Lodge (approximately 30 minutes), set on a bank overlooking the Zambezi River 22 kilometres up-stream from Victoria Falls. DAY 10 LIVINGSTONE
Free time to relax and enjoy optional activities and the beautiful surroundings. Overnight: Chundukwa River Lodge (b).
DAY 11 LIVINGSTONE-HEATHROW
After breakfast transfer to Livingstone airport (approximately 30 minutes) in time to connect with your onward travel arrangements, or your overnight flight to Heathrow via Johannesburg. (b)
15 kg luggage allowance on all light aircraft.
Children under 8 years of age are not permitted at Lion Camp.
