Gorillas, Masai & Beach

Rwanda is known as the ‘land of a thousand hills’ and is one of the smallest and most beautiful countries. Its main attraction is a gorilla safari, a ‘must’ for any wildlife enthusiast. It makes an excellent combination with our selection of safaris by air or road in Kenya, plus a few nights relaxing at the beach in Mombasa at the end of a fascinating holiday.

DAY 1 DAILY HEATHROW – NAIROBI
Fly from Heathrow overnight to Nairobi.

DAY 2 NAIROBI – PARC NATIONAL DE VOLCANS
Fly to Kigali (approximately 30 minutes). Transfer to Musanze in the northwest of Rwanda (110 km – approximately 2 hours 30 minutes) then onto Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge. (l,d)

DAY 3 PARC NATIONAL DE VOLCANS
A very early morning transfer to the Park Office for gorilla trekking formalities before starting your trek. After locating your assigned gorilla group, you will spend approximately one hour in their company before heading back down the volcano slopes. Lunch at the lodge with the afternoon to relax. DAY 4 KIGALI
Another opportunity for gorilla trekking or a golden monkey trek (optional extra) or morning at leisure. After lunch drive back to Kigali (116 km – approximately 3 hours) and perhaps visit the Genocide Museum (optional extra). Overnight: Kigali Serena Hotel. (b,l)

DAY 5 NAIROBI
After breakfast transfer to Kigali airport for your flight to Nairobi, where you can relax or enjoy one of the many excursions available. Overnight: Ole-Sereni Hotel. (b)

DAY 6 MASAI MARA
Transfer to Wilson airport for your flight to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive in the reserve. Overnight: Ashnil Mara Camp. (b,l,d)

DAY 7 MASAI MARA
Enjoy an early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the camp, or take an early morning balloon flight over the Mara followed by a ‘bubbly’ bush breakfast (optional extra £275 per person). Later enjoy an afternoon game drive. Overnight: Ashnil Mara Camp. (b,l,d)

DAY 8 MASAI MARA
Another day in the magnificent Masai Mara with game drives early morning and afternoon. Overnight: Ashnil Mara Camp. (b,l,d)

DAYS 9 MOMBASA
Light aircraft flight to Nairobi and connect with flight to Mombasa. Transfer to the Swahili Beach Resort (approximately 90 minutes south of the airport). Overnight: Swahili Beach Resort. (b,d)

DAYS 10 – 12 MOMBASA
Spend the next three nights at the unique Swahili Beach Resort which is a blend of African, Arabic and Indian architectural influences, and is a welcome addition to the shores of Diani Beach. Overnight: Swahili Beach Resort. (b,d)

DAY 13 HEATHROW
After breakfast and a leisurely morning, return to Mombasa airport for your flight via Nairobi to Heathrow. (b)
