Days 1-2 : Fly to Beijing
Fly overnight to Beijing, China’s capital city.
Days 3-4 : Great Wall of China
Sightseeing today includes a stroll through Tiananmen Square, past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum to the treasure-filled Forbidden City. In the evening, sample the local delicacy, Peking Duck. The next day, walk on the Great Wall and visit the unique Temple of Heaven. Later enjoy a fascinating Chinese Acrobat show.
Day 5 : Beijing, overnight train to Xian
Indulge in shopping at the bustling markets and tour the exquisite Summer Palace before boarding the overnight train to Xian, the ancient former capital.
Days 6-7 : Xian & Terracotta Warriors
Arrive in Xian in the morning. Visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda and the renowned Shaanxi Museum, home to thousands of priceless relics. We also stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter to explore the Islamic food markets. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Shui Jiao dumpling meal followed by a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing. The next day, visit one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century – the Terracotta Warriors and walk along the Ancient City Wall.
Day 8 : Fly to Wuhan
Fly to Wuhan and transfer to Yichang to board the Yangtze River Cruise vessel.
Days 9-11 : Yangtze River Cruise
Tour the Three Gorges Dam before cruising upstream through some of the most dramatic scenery in the world. Over the next three days, take a side-trip to the striking Goddess Stream or visit the Lesser Three Gorges, and enjoy various other shore excursions along the way.
Day 12 : Drive to Chengdu
Disembark from the cruise vessel and visit the ancient living town of Ciqikou before transferring to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. Enjoy a delicious Sichuan meal in the evening.
Day 13 : Panda Conservation Centre
Visit the famous Panda Conservation Centre to see these charismatic animals being reared in wooded surroundings reminiscent of their natural habitat. Fly to Kunming, also known as the City of Eternal Spring, and sample the famous Across the Bridge Noodles..
Day 14 : Stone Forest
Explore the surreal limestone images and columns of the UNESCO listed Stone Forest. Overnight in Kunming.
Days 15-16 : Enchanting Dali
Travel to the enchanting town of Dali and visit the Three Pagodas. The next day, visit Xizhou Village, enjoy a cruise on Erhai Lake and explore Dali’s Ancient Quarter.
Day 17 : Fly to Guilin
Transfer to Kunming and fly to the beautiful city of Guilin.
Days 18-19 : Li River & Yangshuo
Cruise the stunning Li River to Yangshuo and enjoy the landscape of limestone hills, fishing scenes and picturesque villages. The following morning discover the beautiful rural countryside around Yangshuo. The afternoon is at leisure and there are many activities available (arranged locally at extra cost) including cycling, rafting and walking or you may choose to relax in the town. In the evening see the cormorant fishermen.
Day 20 : Fly to Hangzhou
Drive back to Guilin and visit the colourful stalagmites and stalactites of Reed Flute Caves. Fly to Hangzhou.
Days 21-22 : Imperial Hangzhou
Visit the Temple of Inspired Seclusion, Six Harmonies Pagoda and enjoy a relaxing cruise on West Lake. The next day, explore the local markets and experience an oriental tea-tasting before transferring to Suzhou.
Day 23 : Suzhou Historic Town
Visit two of the finest oriental gardens: the Humble Administrator’s Garden and the Master of the Nets Garden, a local silk mill still in operation today and enjoy a cruise on the ancient Grand Canal.
Day 24 : Explore Shanghai
Travel to Shanghai. Explore the restored Xintiandi area with its unique 1920’s style Shikumen buildings. Dinner this evening will be traditional Shanghai cuisine.
Day 25 : Shanghai
Sightseeing today includes a stroll through the beautiful Yu Gardens and the Old Town as well as a visit to the Shanghai Museum. We also walk along the famous Bund with its colonial architecture. In the evening, enjoy a cruise on the panoramic Huangpu River.
Day 26 : Fly Shanghai to UK
Fly to the UK, arriving home the same or following day.
