Sri Lanka is a great island upon which to relax but if you want to experience more of this great culture, you’ll find lots to tempt you. Hikkaduwa offers the ideal combination of beach resort and explorers paradise with great local food, a plethora of temples and shining monuments, a buzzing community fringed with friendly chatter and an ocean of smiles.

The well-stocked waters here, protected by coral reef, offer plenty of opportunity for snorkeling and diving; much of the colourful marine life you’ll see is unique to the Indian Ocean.

Over half of the endangered turtle species in the world, exist in Sri Lanka. Visiting a hatchery, where eggs are collected and cared for by specialist staff, is a fascinating experience and a signifi cant aspect of Sri Lankan life. Your included full-day excursion takes you to one of the island’s most important hatcheries where you will be able to observe this important work in progress. On this same excursion you visit a tea plantation where experienced guides will take you on a tour of the estate before an all-important tea tasting. This fascinating yet long day of sightseeing also involves a visit the UNESCO listed city of Galle where its Dutch infl uence is still very prominent.
