Safari in Style: Kenya & Tanzania
Day 1 To Nairobi
Fly from London to Nairobi and on arrival transfer to the Norfolk Hotel for one night.
Day 2 Nairobi to Samburu
This morning you’ll fly to the Samburu National Reserve. Samburu is close to the equator, and a hot and dry part of the country, offering a different experiences to the green plains of the south and with it, some unique and rare wildlife species. Travel in open safari vehicles, with a maximum of 6 per jeep each with a ‘window seat’. On arrival head to the colonial style Larsens Camp to begin your first-class African safari experience. This afternoon you’ll head out on your first game drive, into the evening sun when the wildlife is at its most active. Return to your luxury camp after dark to enjoy a delicious meal with your travelling companions.

Day 3 Samburu
Head out in the still early morning on a game drive of the Samburu Reserve. Samburu has its own ‘Big Five’ – five species of animal that are unique to Samburu and not found anywhere else in Kenya, Grevy’s zebra, oryx, blue-legged ostrich, reticulated giraffe and gerenuk. As well as these species this is a good part of the country to see leopard and over 350 species of bird. After lunch and a relaxing afternoon at camp, you will be taken out on an afternoon game drive to a different area of the reserve.

Day 4 Samburu to the Masai Mara
Fly to the Masai Mara, one of the world’s most famous national parks, it is the classic African scenery of savannah, scattered acacia trees and great herds of game. The region is named after the Masai tribe, who are the expert game guides of the area. You will arrive at Mara Bushtops, one of the world’s best safari lodges with outstanding levels of sophistication and service, with extraordinary view across the plains of the Masai Mara. You will depart on a game drive this afternoon, with your expert Masai spotter, where you will encounter herds of game from elephants to wildebeest, and on the lookout for the families of big cats which inhabit the area. You may be lucky enough to experience the unforgettable sight of lions hunting. Return to camp for a gourmet dinner and share your experiences.

Day 5 Masai Mara
Another thrilling day in the Masai Mara awaits. The Mara Bushtops vehicles have full refrigerated bar and feature electrical sockets on board so you can recharge your camera as needed. Depending on local conditions, offered a picnic lunch so you can travel to further parts of the large national park in search of different wildlife. Retunr to camp in the evening for fine dining under the African stars.

Day 6 Masai Mara to Serengeti, Tanzania
Catch a morning flight to Migori on the border with Tanzania and after border formalities a short flight to the Serengeti. Continue to the Four Season Serengeti where your well-appointed rooms are scattered among the bus with terraces providing views of the Serengeti. Dinner options range from a tantalizing buffet in the main restaurant to the specialty grill restaurant for a more intimate setting and you might want to enjoy a spa treatment on the half way point of your journey.

Day 7 Serengeti
Depart on game drive on the great plains of the Serengeti, with its wide vistas and endless horizons. The Serengeti is known for its sheer volume of game. It is estimated that there are around two million wildebeest, half a million zebra and tens of thousands of gazelle and impala, which in turn attract the predators including lion and hyena. Returning to the lodge for lunch and dinner, you can relax and see the wildlife activity by the waterhole, where elephants come to drink, and in the evening after dinner lectures are offered by the expert guides.

Day 8 Serengeti
Another full day in the Serengeti in search of wildlife you might not have already seen, and discovering different habitats and panoramas. You will also have plenty of time to relax at the luxurious lodge and enjoy Swahili cuisine featuring specialities from the coast.

Day 9 Serengeti to Ngorongoro
The Nogorongro is a UNESCO Wildlife reserve and one of the world’s great natural wonders, a huge volcanic crater fully 19 kilometres in diameter with walls up to 600 metres high. You will travel overland towards the crater, for a first incredible view from the rim. The fertile grasses on the floor of the crater attract large herds, including buffalo, elephant and you might see endangered black rhino. Arrive at you lodge with its spectacular position on the crater rim.

Day 10 Ngorongoro Crater
Your last full day on safari includes a drive into the Ngorongoro Crater, where you will have a good chance of seeing families of lion and where cheetah numbers are growing.

Day 11 Lake Manyara & Departure
This morning you will depart overland to Lake Manyara, with a beautiful setting which is known for its profusion of bird life. Travelling on you’ll head toward the shimmering peak of Kilimanjaro, one of the continent’s great sights, and arrive in nearby Arusha for lunch, with a day room in an Arusha. Later transfer to the airport for your return flight via Nairobi.
