Selous & Ras Kutani
Southern Tanzania is all about the feeling of wilderness. Wildlife is in abundance and people are not, so matching a safari in this region with an equally appointed beach property might seem difficult, however, just south of Dar Es Salaam lies the jutting headland of Ras Kutani.
Remote and beautiful, Ras Kutani boasts understated luxury and superb service in an environment that is as much about its wildlife and topography as its stunning beach and freshwater lagoon.
DAY 1 SATURDAY HEATHROW – DAR ES SALAAM
Overnight flight from Heathrow to Dar Es Salaam.
DAYS 2-4 SUNDAY – TUESDAY SELOUS GAME RESERVE
Met on arrival in Dar es Salaam and transferred to your light aircraft flight to the Selous Game Reserve. Spend the next three days and nights exploring the wilderness of Selous with expert guides provided by Selous Safari Camp. Whilst you may see many animals from the comfort of the camp, a vast array of game viewing activities are available.
The guides can tailor your experience by boat, open four wheel drive vehicle or on foot, to make the most of your time there. Most game activities are taken after breakfast, unlike in many parks, due to the movement of the animals towards watering holes. Game drives will often continue until lunch before returning to camp for food and relaxation. The evening game drive commences around 4pm and lasts until dusk. Night drives are not permitted in the reserve. Overnight: Selous Safari Camp. (b,l,d plus game activities)
DAYS 5-8 WEDNESDAY – SATURDAY RAS KUTANI
Fly by light aircraft via Dar es Salaam to the tranquillity of Ras Kutani for four nights at a more gentle pace. Ras Kutani is set on a tranquil and pristine stretch of white sand beach, washed by the Indian Ocean. The setting ensures that feeling of being on one’s own tropical island. The lodge is flanked by a fresh water lagoon abutting a coastal forest, which spills to the edge of the unspoilt and undeveloped beach.
Snorkelling equipment is provided for you to use in the temperate sea and small coral reef. Boogie boarding and kayaks can be used to explore the lagoon.
A tropical forest sits behind Ras Kutani where nature lovers can look for four species of monkey. Overnight: Ras Kutani. (b,l,d)
DAY 9 SUNDAY DAR ES SALAAM – HEATHROW
Transfer via light aircraft to Dar Es Salaam for your connecting overnight flight to London Heathrow.
