Splendours of the Baltic aboard Balmoral
Day 1 Southampton
Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service® transports you from your front door to Southampton, where our staff will greet you and assist with embarking Balmoral in readiness for a late afternoon sailing.
Day 2 At Sea
A day at sea provides you with the perfect opportunity to familiarise yourself with the superb onboard facilities.
Day 3 Kiel Canal Transit
Daylight transit through the 61-mile long Kiel Canal which links the North Sea at Brunsbuttel to the Baltic Sea at Kiel-Hotenau. This remarkable feat of engineering allows vessels to avoid having to sail around the Jutland Peninsular and is the most heavily used artificial seaway in the world.
Day 4 Copenhagen, Denmark
Copenhagen has something for everyone, from the Tivoli Gardens with its café’s and open-air shows, to Stroeget, a fabulous shopping centre of meandering pedestrianised streets. There are also several splendid churches, such as the Church of our Saviour in Christianshavn, which has a golden staircase winding up the outside of a tower that’s topped by a golden globe. Also, the Marble Church, started in 1749, was one of the most expensive buildings of its day and was not finished until the late 19th century.
Day 5 At Sea
Perhaps relax on deck with a good book from the well-stocked library or enjoy a luxurious spa treatment.
Days 6-7 Stockholm, Sweden
There are no fewer than fourteen islands and forty bridges in Sweden’s spacious capital, a picturesque canvas of waterways, lakes, canals and trees. You may choose to visit the imposing City Hall, a magnificent building renowned for its architecture, murals and mosaics, and the stately Blue and Golden Halls. Or perhaps spend time in the medieval Old Town and visit the Vasa Museum, built around the 17th century warship that sank in Stockholm’s inner harbour on her maiden voyage.
Day 8 Tallinn, Estonia
An early morning arrival at the wonderfully preserved medieval, hanseatic city of Tallinn. Time ashore to wander through myriad narrow twisted cobbled lanes in the Old Town with its fairytale turrets and soaring copper spires, red-gabled houses and ancient walls. Late afternoon sailing.
Day 9-10 St Petersburg, Russia
This morning we arrive in St Petersburg, the jewel in the Baltic crown. There will be a choice of shore excursions available to help you to experience all that this magnificent city has to offer. As well as informative city tours embracing the highlights, including the Peter and Paul Fortress, St Isaac’s Cathedral, the cruiser Aurora and the Nevsky Prospekt, there will be excursions to Peterhof, the splendid summer residence of the Tsars, to the glorious Catherine Palace at Pushkin and to the prestigious Hermitage Museum, with its remarkable art collection. It may also be possible to attend an evening at the ballet for which Russia is highly acclaimed, or a concert at the Hermitage. Late afternoon sailing on day 10.
Day 11 At Sea
After a few days of sightseeing, there is now time to enjoy a relaxing and indulgent day at sea.
Day 12 Ronne, Bornholm, Denmark
Many of the cross-timbered houses, brightly painted in orange and yellow are recreations put up during the 1940s after the town was partly destroyed in 1945. Of interest also is the Bornholm Museum which is housed in a former hospital and has fascinating displays on the history of seafaring and of the natural history of Bornholm. The nautical exhibition is in a room that recreates the interior of a ship and several other rooms are fitted with antique furniture, ceramics and locally made clocks.
Please note: On 5 September sailing, Balmoral will visit Gdynia in Poland instead of Ronne.
Day 13 Kiel Canal Transit.
Return trip through the canal.
Day 14 At Sea
A final day at sea to enjoy the ships facilities and reflect on shared experiences with newfound friends, as Balmoral sails homeward across the North Sea.
Day 15 Southampton
Early this morning we arrive back in Southampton, where we disembark after breakfast. Our staff will greet and transfer you to Titan transport for your journey to your own front door.
