Days 1-2 : Fly to Colombo
Fly overnight to Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital city.
Day 3 : Colombo & Nuwara Eliya
Sightseeing includes a visit to Fort District, Pettah Market, Dutch Church of Wolfendhall, Kelaniya Buddhist Temple, Davatagaha Mosque, Colombo Museum and the Natural History Museum. Later in the day you’ll also visit a tea estate and travel to Nuwara Eliya. (B,L,D)
Day 4 : Yala National Park
Visit Sita Amman Temple and Hakgala Botanical Gardens. Later, travel to Yala National Park, home to elephants, leopards, sambhur, wild buffalo and over 130 species of bird. Enjoy an evening jeep safari. (B,L,D)
Day 5 : Yala Wildlife Safaris
Enjoy a morning and evening jeep safari in Yala National Park. (B,L,D)
Day 6 : Udawalawe National Park
Travel to Udawalawe National Park, famous for its elephant population. Pay a visit to the Udawalawe Elephant Orphanage, and enjoy a safari in the afternoon before returning to Yala National Park. (B,L,D)
Day 7 : Ratnapura
Travel to Ratnapura and see the famous Ceylon Sapphires being mined. (B,L,D)
Day 8 : Sinharaja Forest Reserve
Tour the UNESCO Sinharaja Forest Reserve, home to endemic species including birds, fish, reptiles, snakes and amphibians. Later, return to Ratnapura. (B,L,D)
Day 9 : Galle
Travel to Galle. Tour the city, stroll around the lighthouse and visit the Dutch Fort to experience a mix of Asian and European influences. (B,L)
Day 10 : Return to Colombo
Spend a final night in Colombo. (B)
Day 11 : Fly Colombo to UK
Fly to the UK, arriving home later the same or following day. (B)
