Day 1 Depart London Heathrow
Your overnight flight travels to Windhoek via Johannesburg.

Day 2 Windhoek
Morning arrival into Windhoek, the small and quiet capital of this vast country. Transfer to the Safari Hotel for 1 night. This afternoon you’ll enjoy a city tour, before returning to the hotel for dinner and relaxation.

Day 3 Windhoek to Sossusvlei
This morning you’ll depart south into the wide open spaces of the Namibia Desert. Stop en route in the town of Rehoboth and visit the local museum, before continuing onto the Hammerstein Lodge for 2 nights in the wilderness.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner.

Day 4 Sossusvlei
Today you’ll experience the awe-inspiring natural beauty of Sossusvlei where you can climb the spectacular, giant sand dunes, shaped into gracious waves by the wind. Witness the parched Mars-like scenery of the Dead Vlei and then head to the Sesriem Canyon. This evening you might like to take an optional sundowner drive to watch the sun set over the red desert.

Day 5 Sossusvlei to Swakopmund
You’ll head to the coast today, stopping on the way to see the bizarre formations at Moon Valley and the extraordinary welwitschia plants which can live in the desert for over a thousand years. You’ll drive to the coastal town of Swakopmund where you’ll have a short city tour before arriving at the Hotel Eberwein for 3 nights.

Day 6 Swakopmund and Walvis Bay
This morning you’ll head back to the ocean to enjoy a catamaran cruise around Walvis Bay, looking out for seals, schools of dolphins including the endemic heaviside dolphin, and possibly a rare sighting of a sea turtle. The afternoon is free to explore this lively coastal town, or you might want to arrange a ballooning or scenic flight over the desert.

Day 7 Swakopmund
Indulge in something different today, with an exhilarating tour into the heart of the desert in a 4×4 vehicle with an expert guide. See the unique geology and unusual wildlife that includes the chameleon and sand diving lizards that appear to ‘dance’ on the hot sand. The afternoon is yours at leisure.

Day 8 Swakopmund to Damaraland
Another extraordinary journey today leads up the legendary Skeleton Coast, with the brooding waters of the Atlantic washing onto the empty land, along a coastline that has seen countless shipwrecks. The coastal dunes give way to rocky hills as you enter Damaraland to visit the Petrified Forest before heading to the Damara Mopane Camp for 2 nights.

Day 9 Damaraland
After breakfast, you’ll visit the extraordinary Twyfelfontein rock paintings, some of which are believed to be over ten thousand years old. You’ll then be welcomed to the Damara Living Museum to experience the culture and remarkable way of life in this remote land. The afternoon is at leisure, perhaps to wash off the desert sand with a swim in the pool.

Day 10 Damaraland to Otjiwarongo
After a leisurely morning you’ll travel inland towards the Waterberg plateau for a real Namibian ranch and safari experience. You’ll arrive at the Frans Indongo Lodge for a 2 night stay. Settle in on the sundeck and watch antelope, zebra and springbok at the nearby waterhole, or take a walk on the pleasant trail through the savannah.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner.

Day 11 Ojitwarongo
Today you’ll experience a game drive from the lodge in a classic open top offroad jeep, in search of the wildlife of the plains, including impala and wildebeest. If you’re lucky you might see the endangered black rhino. In the afternoon you might like to take an optional visit to the Cheetah Conservation Fund, or simply relax in the natural surrounds of the lodge.

Day 12 Depart Windhoek
After a leisurely morning you’ll head back to Windhoek. You’ll stop en route at the Kavango woodcarvers market and there will be time in Windhoek for shopping before your return flight to London via Johannesburg.

Day 13 Arrive London Heathrow
Your flight lands into London this morning.
