Days 1-2 : Fly to Saigon
Fly overnight to Saigon.
Day 3 : Discover Saigon
Sightseeing today includes a visit to the Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Reunification Palace and Ben Thanh Market.
Day 4 : Mekong Delta Cruise
Cruise on the Mekong River to explore the Delta, the Rice Basket of Vietnam. Later, return to Saigon.
Day 5 : Cu Chi Tunnels & Tay Ninh
Explore the amazing network of Cu Chi Tunnels before travelling to Tay Ninh to attend the noon service at the Cao Dai Temple, one of the most striking structures in Asia. Return to Saigon.
Days 6-7 : Historic Hoi An
Fly to Danang and transfer to the UNESCO town of Hoi An, stopping at the Marble Mountains en route. The next day enjoy a walking tour of Hoi An, visiting the Japanese Bridge, Hoi An Market and an old merchant’s home built over 200 years ago.
Days 8-9 : Imperial Hue
Travel to Hue, the historic capital of Vietnam during the Nguyen Dynasty. Take a cyclo ride to the Imperial Citadel including Purple Forbidden City. The next day cruise along the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda before travelling to An Thien House. Later, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Royal Tomb of Minh Mang.
Day 10 : Fly to Hanoi
Fly to Hanoi, a charming and richly historic city of lakes, parks and shaded boulevards, the Paris of the Orient.
Day 11 : Halong Bay Junk Cruise
Travel to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halong Bay, Vietnam’s most iconic attraction. Enjoy a seafood meal whilst cruising between the nearby islands on board the traditionally designed Junk Boat. Return to Hanoi later in the day.
Day 12 : Explore Hanoi
Sightseeing includes a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Quarter where you will see Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum (closed Sep-Dec), Stilt House, One Pillar Pagoda, and the Temple of Literature – you’ll also take a walking tour of the Old Quarter.
Days 13-14 : Giant Pandas, Chengdu
Fly to Chengdu, and in the evening sample the local Sichuan cuisine. Visit the famous Giant Panda Conservation Centre the following day. Later, fly to Guilin.
Days 15-16 : Li River & Yangshuo
Cruise the stunning Li River to Yangshuo and enjoy the breathtaking landscapes. We also see an evening display of traditional cormorant fishing. The next day, visit a local family and explore Fuli Ancient Town.
Day 17 : Guilin
Visit Reed Flute Cave and Mount Diecai.
Days 18-19 : Terracotta Warriors
Fly to Xian, the former ancient capital. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Shui Jiao dumpling meal followed by a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing. The next day, visit one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century – the Terracotta Warriors and walk along the Ancient City Walls.
Day 20 : Discover Xian
Visit the renowned Shaanxi Museum, stroll through the lively Muslim Quarter to explore the Islamic food markets before boarding the overnight train to Beijing.
Days 21-22 : Forbidden City
Arrive in Beijing, tour the exquisite Summer Palace and sample the local delicacy, Peking Duck. The next day stroll through Tiananmen Square, past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum to the treasure-filled Forbidden City. Also visit the unique Temple of Heaven.
Day 23 : Great Wall of China
Walk on the Great Wall and see a fascinating Chinese Acrobat show.
Days 24-26 : Fly to Shanghai
Fly to Shanghai. The following days include a stroll through the beautiful Yu Gardens, the Old Town, Shanghai Museum and the famous Bund. Visit the modern Pudong area and explore the restored Xintiandi area with its unique 1920’s style Shikumen buildings. Sample traditional Shanghai cuisine and take a cruise on the panoramic Huangpu River.
Day 27 : Fly to Shanghai
Fly to the UK arriving home the same or following day.
