Tuscan Escape with Umbria

Day 1 London – Pisa – Siena
Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service® transports you from your front door to London Gatwick or Heathrow Airport and your direct, scheduled British Airways flight to Pisa. On arrival, our coach will transfer us to the Hotel Athena 4 star, Siena where we will stay for the next seven nights.

Day 2 Siena
Siena is the second city of Tuscany, and its medieval streets are lined with old houses and palaces. Twice a year the heart of the city, Piazza del campo, which is in walking distance of your hotel, comes alive for Il Palio, a horse race and the whole of Siena is bustling with crowds. We have a half day guided walking tour this morning to introduce you to the city, after which you are at leisure.

Day 3 Assisi – Perugia
Today, accompanied by a local guide, we delve into another region of Italy, Umbria, often considered a second Tuscany.
First is the walled city of Assisi is a picturesque medieval town spread across the slopes of Monte Subasio. It is famous as the home of St Francis, founder of the Franciscan Order of Monks, the town retains its medieval character, and it is easy to picture St Francis walking the streets. Any exploration of the town must include a visit to St Francis’ Basilica, Italy’s earliest Gothic church and the only Papal seat outside St Peter’s in Rome.
Later we travel further south to Perugia, the capital of Umbria, which is perched on a hill and therefore offers beautiful views of the surrounding verdant countryside. At its centre you will find the Fontana Maggiore at the head of the main shopping street and your local guide will reveal the secrets of this Etruscan city in a guided tour. We return to our hotel where dinner is included

Day 4 Siena
You are free to spend today as you wish.

Day 5 Florence
We have a full day to explore all the delights of the Renaissance city of Florence with a guided walking tour. First established as a Roman settlement in 59 BC, Florence is the city where the Italian genius for art reached its pinnacle and has retained its standing as a centre for art and a magnet for tourists, artists and art historians. Today Florence is the main city of Tuscany and is wonderfully compact with the River Arno running through its centre and the picturesque Ponte Vecchio filled with market stalls. We return to Siena later for evening dinner.

Day 6 Siena
Today you are at leisure to enjoy the city at your own pace.

Day 7 San Gimignano – Castello del Trebbio winery
San Gimignano stands on a hilltop surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. As we enter the town with our local guide and climb to the main square it is as though we have returned to the 12th century. We journey to a small town in Chianti Country called Pontassieve and the Castello del Trebbio winery for a tour of the family owned castle and wine cellars followed by a tasting, which will be the perfect introduction for a farewell dinner.

Day 8 Siena – Pisa – London
This morning we stop in Pisa for about one hour to view the Leaning Tower before your direct, British Airways flight back to London Gatwick. On arrival, our staff will greet you and transfer you to your Titan transport for your return journey home to your front door.
