Undiscovered Bulgaria

Day 1 London – Sofia – Plovdiv
We begin with Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service® to London Heathrow Airport and your direct, scheduled British Airways flight to Sofia. On arrival, our coach transfers us to Plovdiv (journey time approximately 2 hours 30 minutes). We stay at the 4★ Dedeman Trimontium Princess Hotel in the very centre of Plovdiv, where dinner is included this evening.

Day 2 Plovdiv
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Plovdiv, the second largest city in Bulgaria, is located on the Maritsa River and has won this status due to its stunning architecture. One of the most famous monuments in the Old Town is the Ancient Theatre but Plovdiv also offers beautiful parks for the visitor to enjoy. This morning we will take a walking tour of the city and you are free this afternoon to make your own discoveries.

Day 3 Kazanlak – Shipka village
Today we visit the Rose Valley, so called because the attractive town of Kazanlak is a famous producer of rose oil. Here you will also see the Thracian tombs that reveal the ways of life of this ancient civilisation. In the nearby village of Shipka we visit the Russian Church, an architectural masterpiece before returning to Plovdiv.

Day 4 Bachkovo Monastery
We travel to the Bachkovo Monastery this morning, one of the oldest monasteries in Bulgaria, set in the beautiful Chepelare river valley, a short distance from Plovdiv. We have lunch and a wine tasting at the Todoroff Wine Cellar before making our way back to Plovdiv.

Day 5 Plovdiv – Bansko
Today we continue our journey west; admiring the picturesque vistas, visiting a local craft shop en route to the ski resort town of Bansko. We overnight at the 4* St.Ivan Rilski Hotel in Bansko and dinner is included at a local restaurant this evening or the 4* Regnum Hotel.

Day 6 Bansko – Rila Monastery – Sofia
After breakfast we depart our hotel and take the scenic drive through the mountains, arriving at the magnificent Rila Monastery at about midday for our included lunch. The monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and we will enjoy a visit to its church and museum. We continue our drive (approximately 1 hour) and later arrive at the 5* Grand Hotel Sofia, which is within walking distance of all the main attractions and where your evening meal is included tonight.

Day 7 Sofia
This morning we have included a guided city tour of Sofia, including a visit to the magnificent Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. As the capital and one of the oldest towns in Europe, Sofia is full of history a well as being the cultural centre of Bulgaria. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore the city further. You may wish to walk through the Alexander Battenburg Square, pass the National Art Gallery and then continue down Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard to the Russian Church of St Nicholas.

Day 8 Sofia – London
We transfer the short distance by coach to Sofia Airport for our direct, scheduled British Airways flight to London Heathrow where our staff will greet you and transfer you to Titan transport for your journey home to your own front door.
