Wagner’s Bicentenary – Celebrating Richard Wagner’s Birth

Day 1 London – Berlin – Dresden

Day 2 Dresden
This morning we will join a local guide for our included walking tour of the Old Town to introduce you to the historic city of Dresden, which, despite war damage, is still full of beautiful buildings and fine examples of Baroque architecture. The rest of the afternoon is free.

Day 3 Leipzig (Wagner’s birthplace)
Today we head west to Wagner’s birthplace of Leipzig, the world famous ‘City of Music’. Our day starts with a guided walking tour introducing us to the city where Wagner distinguished himself during his childhood and teenage years and where his ambition to become a musician began.
We have also included a visit to Thomas Church where Johann Sebastian Bach worked as a cantor and where he was laid to rest. This afternoon concludes with a guided tour of the special Wagner exhibition at Alte Nikolaischule – the former school of Wagner.

Day 4 Dresden
This morning we take a special guided tour of Semper Opera House, a prime example of Dresden’s Baroque architecture. Situated in theatre square in central Dresden on the bank of the Elbe River, today it plays host to Wagner’s major works.
This afternoon is free to enjoy the hotel facilities or to explore Dresden further at your own pace.

Day 5 Graupa
After breakfast we depart for our excursion to Graupa where we visit Wagner’s reconstructed living quarters of Lohengrin House and Jagdschloss. We then enjoy guided tour visiting the highlights of Wagner’s time here.
Our day concludes with a leisurely boat trip from Pillnitz back to Dresden along the picturesque River Elbe.

Day 6 Dresden – Berlin – London
We transfer to Berlin Airport for our direct, scheduled British Airways flight to London Heathrow Airport. On arrival our staff will greet you and transfer you to your Titan transport for the return journey home to your own front door.
